The greatly anticipated Del Mar National Horse show features North America's finest riders and horses. Made and owned by Bing Crosby, the strains of whose song 'Where The Turf Meets the Surf' is the first and last sound heard on the track everyday. Del Mar Horse Park was the chosen site for jumping trials for the 2000 Olympics
Brightly colored Hot-air balloons dot the blue sky along with puffy clouds by enthusiasts and are able to take in the breath taking view of 'the city by the sea'. The climate is ideal all year long for snorkels, surfers, body surfers, divers and swimmers to enjoy the white sand and pristine waters of the two beaches in Del Mar. Then again you can just sit and enjoy the sun set into blazing glory.
Seagrove Park, James Scripps Bluffs Preserve, Torrey Pines State Reserve and Beach and nearby Torrey Pines Public Golf Course provides some incredible healthy outdoor activities and opportunities.
San Diego County fair kicks off in mid June and ends on the 7th of July. This is always a great time with music, rides, food, craft and shows -- the highlight of the show being the selection of a queen -- The Fairest of The Fair.
Del Mar is a hop, skip and jump to La Jolla and many residents work at University of California or are affiliated with firms at La Jolla. San Diego can be reached through train.
